Harvestr offers two exports of your Discoveries, from the same menu. Both produce a CSV or an Excel file, and the one you pick depends on whether you need the feedback behind each Discovery.
Launching an export
Only Editors can launch a Discoveries export.
Go to one of your Discovery views and click the export button.
Choose Export discoveries or Export discoveries and feedback, then as CSV or as XLSX for Excel.
Both exports follow your view. Only the Discoveries currently visible are exported, so anything excluded by an active filter is left out. Set your filters to match what you want before exporting.
1. Export discoveries
One row per Discovery. The file is prepared in your browser and downloaded straight away.
It contains the value of every Discovery field displayed in the current view, plus these columns:
Description: the full description of the Discovery, in the column right after its title
Discovery id: the unique identifier of each Discovery, also found at the end of its URL
Parent Discovery id: for sub-discoveries, the id of their parent Discovery
Since the export mirrors the columns on screen, add any field you need to your view before exporting.
Descriptions keep their formatting tags. A description is exported exactly as it is stored, so a cell can contain formatting such as <p> or <b> around the text. Paste the column into a tool that reads HTML, or strip the tags, if you need clean text.
Fetching descriptions adds a few seconds on a large view, so the download can take a moment to start.
2. Export discoveries and feedback
One row per piece of feedback, so a Discovery with 30 pieces of feedback takes 30 rows. This is the export to use for verbatim analysis, or to show a customer what their own feedback became.
This export arrives by email. It runs on our servers rather than in your browser, so you get a confirmation right away and a message with the file once it is ready.
Its columns are fixed, and do not depend on the fields shown in your view:
Discovery ID, Discovery Title, Discovery Description, Component
Feedback, Feedback Count, Feedback ID
Customer Type, Customer Name, Customer Email, Customer Company name
Two things to know: the view is capped at 5,000 Discoveries, and Harvestr asks you to refine your filters beyond that. And if your view filters on feedback, such as a source or a label, only the matching feedback is exported, not everything attached to those Discoveries.

What the exports do not include
Whatever your view shows, neither export contains:

activities
attachments
The Discoveries-only export also leaves out linked feedback and customers, which is exactly what the second export is for. If you need more, use our API or ask our support team for a custom export.
