Harvestr Chrome extension

Gather feedback from any web page to improve your product

Written by Marina Salmon

The Harvestr Chrome extension lets you and your teammates send product feedback from any web page to Harvestr, where it can be tracked and prioritized in your product roadmap.

How does it work?

  • install the extension from the Chrome Web Store

  • open it from Chrome and send feedback to Harvestr

  • in Harvestr, that feedback is merged with all your other sources, categorized, and prioritized

Prerequisites

To set up the Chrome extension, you need:

  • the latest version of Google Chrome

  • a Harvestr Contributor account (or higher) and a personal access token

How to set up the extension

  1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.

  2. Go to your personal settings in Harvestr to generate a personal access token.

  3. Copy and paste the token into the extension when prompted.

Sending feedback to Harvestr

To send feedback from any web page:

  1. Select some text on the page you're on.

  2. Click the Harvestr button in the top right of your browser.

  3. Add any additional text or images.

  4. Add a feedback requester — a user or a company. If you don't select one, you're set as the default requester.

  5. Add labels to attach to your feedback.

  6. Optionally, choose the Discovery you want to link this feedback to.

  7. Press send.

If you didn't choose a Discovery, the feedback goes to your Harvestr inbox, where it can be linked later.

Feedback templates

To structure the feedback you get from teammates, define a default feedback template that pre-loads when someone opens the extension.

How to set up your template

Go to your Chrome extension settings in Harvestr and click Edit feedback template.

Default fields

Choose which default fields to use, and which are required when collecting feedback:

  • Title — the title of the feedback

  • Customer — the customer linked to the feedback

  • Labels — let teammates assign labels when sending feedback

  • Linked discoveries — let teammates link feedback to existing Discoveries

Custom questions

By default, the template always includes a content field where teammates type their feedback.

For more structured input, add custom questions. Four field types are available:

  • Input — short single-line text field

  • Textarea — longer multi-line text field

  • Single select menu — dropdown where teammates choose one option

  • Multi select menu — dropdown where teammates can select several options

For each field you can add a description, which appears in the extension as guidance for whoever is submitting.

Once you're happy with your template, click Save. It loads automatically when teammates open the extension.

How the template is used

When someone opens the extension, they're prompted to fill in the fields you defined.

Teammates who prefer not to use the template can click Do not use template in the bottom-left corner of the extension. This reverts to the standard configuration: default fields plus a free-text content area.

Processing feedback in Harvestr

All feedback collected through the extension appears in your inbox, alongside feedback from every connected tool.

Thanks to HAI, each item is automatically linked to the most relevant Discovery.

If you've set up a template, the answers to your custom questions appear in the feedback content, and the whole entry is categorized by our AI.

The View feedback tab

The extension has a View feedback tab where teammates can see all the feedback they've sent to Harvestr and the status of the related discoveries — whether it came from the extension or another channel.

They can also see all the feedback from a specific customer using the requester filter in the top left.

Email notifications

You can set up email notifications for teammates who send feedback through the extension. Configure them from the Chrome extension settings.

Three types of notification can be sent:

  1. When the feedback is read in Harvestr

  2. When it's linked to a Discovery

  3. When the linked Discovery is set to specific states

Here's what those notifications look like in your mailbox:
