Feedback labels are essential for organizing and filtering incoming feedback in Harvestr. They help you quickly identify the type of feedback you're receiving and make it easier to search for specific feedback. This article explains how to manage and use labels to improve your feedback management process.
Importing labels from integrations
Harvestr can automatically import labels from some integrations: support tools (Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk) and Zapier.
This means that if you're importing feedback from those tools, Harvestr will automatically import the labels associated with that feedback. This saves you time and effort in manually creating labels for each piece of feedback.
Creating labels in Harvestr
If you aren't using any integrations, or want to create custom labels, you can easily do so in Harvestr. You can create a label either from a piece of feedback in your inbox, or from the labels settings.
You can then give your label a title and update its visibility settings.
Label visibility settings
If you have a lot of labels, you might want to choose where each one is visible to keep things tidy.
When creating a label, and from the labels settings, you can choose where your labels will be visible:
Visible in Harvestr means the label is displayed in the feedback inbox at the feedback level and in the left sidebar.
Visible in an integration means the label is displayed and selectable from the integrations you've connected to Harvestr.
From the labels settings, you can also set the default visibility for all labels created from integrations:
Visible in Harvestr — each new label created from an integration is visible by default in Harvestr, but not in your other integrations.
Visible nowhere — each new label created from an integration isn't visible anywhere, neither in Harvestr nor in your other integrations.
Using labels to search for feedback
Labels are a powerful tool for finding specific feedback in Harvestr. There are two ways to filter feedback by label from your inbox.
Use the advanced search:
Or select labels to filter from the left sidebar:
What else labels unlock
Labels aren't only for searching. Once your taxonomy is in place, three other features build on it.
Custom Inboxes
Build a Custom Inbox filtered on one or more labels, so each person or team sees only the feedback that concerns them. Available from the Scale plan.
Feedback automations
Rather than labelling by hand, let Feedback automations apply labels as feedback arrives. An AI automation can read the content of each new item and label it against a prompt you write. Available from the Elite plan.
Rollup fields
A Rollup field can count how many pieces of feedback carrying a given label are attached to each Discovery.
For example, a CHURN label plus a Rollup field gives you, on every Discovery, the number of at-risk customers who raised it — a much sharper prioritization signal than raw feedback volume.
These three combine well: an automation applies the label automatically, a Custom Inbox routes it to the right person, and a Rollup field turns it into a number you can sort your backlog by — with no manual triage in between.
Keeping your taxonomy useful
A few habits that keep labels from becoming noise:
Fewer labels, used consistently, beat many labels used occasionally. If a label is on three items after six months, it isn't earning its place.
Label the nature of the feedback, not the topic. Topics belong in Discoveries and Components. Labels are better used for things like churn risk, bug, or the team that submitted it.
Set the default visibility for imported labels to "visible nowhere" if your support tools carry a lot of internal tags. You can then make useful ones visible one by one, instead of importing hundreds.
