Bring your customer data into Harvestr

The two ways to add your customers' attributes: sync your CRM, or import them from our Excel template.

Written by Marina Salmon

Feedback is more useful when you know who it comes from: their plan, their revenue, their industry. There are two ways to bring that customer data into Harvestr: sync your CRM, or import it from our Excel template.

Which route to choose

Your situation

Best route

Your customer data lives in Intercom, HubSpot or Salesforce, and you want it to stay up to date

Sync your CRM

Your attributes or segments sit in a spreadsheet, or you're migrating from another tool with feedback and discoveries

Sync your CRM

A sync keeps your customers' attributes up to date automatically. It doesn't copy your whole CRM: it enriches the customers that already exist in Harvestr, usually because they sent feedback.

The number of synced customers depends on your plan: 1,000 on Core, 5,000 on Scale, custom on Elite. Imports by file don't count toward that limit.

Import attributes from the Excel template

Customer attributes and segments can only be imported with our Excel template, not with a CSV file.

  1. Go to Settings > Import data and click Import on Everything at once.

  2. Download the template and fill the Customers sheet: one row per user or company, with attributes written as MRR: 499, Plan: Enterprise.

  3. Upload the file, check what Harvestr found, then click Import. You get an email when it's done.

Existing customers are updated, and their values overwritten. Users are matched by email and companies by name. If one already exists in Harvestr, the attribute values in your file replace the ones it has.

The same file can also bring feedback and discoveries along with your customers, including who said what. For the full format, see Import data into Harvestr with Excel/CSV.

Just a list of names and emails?

If you only need to add users and companies, with no attributes or segments, the CSV import is quicker: Settings > Import data > Users and companies, up to 3,000 rows. It takes names, emails, phones and descriptions only.

A CSV import never adds or updates attributes or segments. To change the attributes of existing customers, use the Excel template above.

Importing data is reserved for Owners and Editors.
