Prerequisites
All you need is the following:
a Harvestr Enterprise subscription to have access to the Roles feature
an account with Editor rights to create Roles
What are Contributor Roles?
Roles are a way to define the level of access and permissions that a Contributor has in your Harvestr workspace. When creating a role, you can decide which sections of Harvestr (Inbox, Product, Roadmap, Customers) teammates with this role can access and which actions they can perform (create feedback, add comments).
Roles are important for maintaining a secure and compliant workspace. By defining specific permissions for each role, you can ensure that only the necessary information and actions are accessible to each team member. This helps prevent any unauthorized access to your Harvestr data.
How to create a role
Go to Settings > Roles and click the New role button.
Give your role a title ("Sales," for example, if you want to create a role for your sales team) and an optional description.
Select which sections of Harvestr (Inbox, Product, Roadmap, Customers) teammates with this role can access by turning them On and Off.
Select which actions they can perform between:
create feedback and link their feedback to discoveries
add comments to inbox messages, discoveries, and roadmap projects.
You can, for example, create roles for different teams within your organization, such as Sales, Customer Success, and more. This allows you to customize the level of access and permissions for each team, ensuring that they only have access to the relevant information and actions to their role.
Assigning roles to teammates
Once your roles are created, you can assign them to your different Contributors from the Teammates section.
FAQ
Can I create Roles for Editors?
No, you can only create Roles for Contributors. Editors will always have all access and action permissions in Harvestr.
What is the difference between a Seat type and a Role?
A seat type gives Owners, Editors, and Contributors some default permissions:
Owners and Editors have full access and edit rights.
Contributors can only view information, create feedback, and add comments
Contributor Roles help you define more granular permissions for Contributors.
